The first velvet cake was born in the 1800s, by the 1930s, the cake had appeared in newspapers in the Midwest and West Coast, referred to as ‘Christmas cake’. It wasn’t always popular with the culinary crowds until it was introduce in a film in 1989. By the early 21st century, Red Velvet has been a staple at nearly every upscale bakery across  America, Europe and South East Asia.

Saviour the fluffy, soft, buttery and moist beetroot sponge cake, layered with cream cheese frosting and  top with fresh strawberry and blueberry.
